The Axi of China

The Axi of China, numbering approximately 130,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a distinct subgroup of the Yi (彝族) ethnic nationality in China, best known for their fire‑centered rituals, music, and dance traditions, especially the famous Axi Tiaoyue (“Axi Dance under the Moon”). They are an Indigenous people in the Other Tibeto-Burmese people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Axi and their primary religion is Chinese Folk Religion.
