They are an ethnic subgroup of the Li (Hlai) people, an indigenous community primarily living on Hainan Island, China and can also be known as Jiamao. They are an Indigenous people, in the Li people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Jiamao.
