They are among the earliest known inhabitants of the northwest highlands They are an Indigenous people, with Xingmoun (Puoc) as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Mon-Khmer people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism. They primarily speak Puoc.
