They are a West African ethnic group indigenous to northwestern Senegal, the Gambia, and southwestern coastal Mauritania. They are an Indigenous people in the Atlantic-Wolof people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Wolof, Gambian and their primary religion is Folk Islam.
