The Chikunda of Zimbabwe

The Chikunda of Zimbabwe, numbering approximately 192,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Zambezi valley people descended from prazo-estate slave-soldiers who fled upriver as Portuguese Zambezia collapsed in the 1800s, settling the middle Zambezi Valley near Chirundu on the Zimbabwe side and absorbing into local Tonga and Gwembe communities. They mostly adhere to Ethnoreligion and Kunda is their primary language.
