They are a Karib-speaking ethnic group of the Upper Xingu region and can also be known as Matipu, Nahukwá, Matipuhy-Nahukua, Matipuhy, Nahukwá. They are an Indigenous people, in the Amazon people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion - Animism. They primarily speak Kuikúro-Kalapálo.
