They are one of the main subgroups of the Guaraní people, an Indigenous nation spread across Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. They are an Indigenous people, in the Guarani people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Guaraní, Mbyá.
