The Awa-Cuaiquer of Ecuador

The Awa-Cuaiquer of Ecuador, numbering approximately 3,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Chibchan-speaking people of the steep rainforest hills straddling northern Ecuador and southern Colombia, living in dispersed stilt houses along rivers like the Gualcala and San Juan and managing a communal forest reserve established in 1987. They mostly adhere to Ethnoreligion and Awa-Cuaiquer is their primary language.
