They are an ethnolinguistic community holding Nepali citizenship or with roots in Nepal and can also be known as Gurung. They are an Diaspora people, in the Nepali-Pahari people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Nepali.
