They form part of the broader Korupun-Sela (Kimyal) population and maintain a distinct local identity rooted in clan relationships, mountain valleys, and customary lands. They are an Indigenous people in the New Guinea people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Korupun-Sela and their primary religion is Protestantism.
