They are an ethnolinguisic subgroup of the Zapotec, an ethnic group indigenous to the state of Oaxaca, Mexico and can also be known as S Miguel Tilquiapan Zapoteco, Zapoteco de San Miguel Tilquiapan Zapoteco, Zapoteco de San Miguel Tilquiapan, San Miguel Tilquiapan, Zapotec, Tilquiapam. They are an Indigenous people, in the Zapotec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Zapotec, Tilquiapan.
