They are an ethnolinguisic subgroup of the Zapotec, an ethnic group indigenous to the state of Oaxaca, Mexico and can also be known as Zapoteco de Quioquitani y Quierí, Zapoteco de Quioquitani y Quierí, Quioquitani y Quieri, Zapoteco de la Sierra sur, Quiquitani y Quieri, Zapoteco, San Catarina Quieri Zapotec, Zapoteco de Quioquitani y Quieri, S Catarina Quieri Zapotec, noroeste medio, Zpapotec, Quioquitani, Quiquitani y Queri, Zapoteco de Quioquitani y Quieri. They are an Indigenous people, in the Zapotec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Spanish.
