The Khandait of India

The Khandait of India, numbering approximately 2,135,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a warrior caste of Odisha and West Bengal claiming Kshatriya descent from the region's ancient landed militia, named from khanda, sword. Once landowning cultivators who traditionally do not touch the plow, many now hold government jobs. They are an Indigenous people in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Odia and their primary religion is Hinduism.
