The Balai of India

The Balai of India, numbering approximately 2,670,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste community of Madhya Pradesh and neighboring states whose name derives from the Hindi bulahi, meaning messenger. Traditionally weavers and village watchmen, they now largely work in agricultural labor and cultivation. They are an Indigenous people in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Hindi and their primary religion is Hinduism.
