The Gonrhi of India

The Gonrhi of India, numbering approximately 1,060,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as a fishing and cultivating caste of Bihar and West Bengal that traces its descent from Nishad, the mythical boatman said to have ferried Rama across the Ganga. Fishing remains their main occupation alongside cultivation They are an Indigenous people, with Gonrhi as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Mallah people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Angika.
