They are described as an endogamous agricultural community of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh who claim descent from the Panwar Rajputs who defended Dhar against Aurangzeb. They are also known as Pawar and worship Sindhri Deo as their clan deity They are an Indigenous people, with Bhoyar as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Hindi.
