The Ganaka of India

The Ganaka of India, numbering approximately 152,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as an Assamese Brahmin community of Assam. Traditionally known as astrologers, ritual specialists, and custodians of calendrical knowledge, they identify with the Surya Vipra or Daivajna Brahman tradition and trace their origins to Sakaldwipiya Brahmins They are an Indigenous people, with Brahmin as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Brahmin people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Assamese.
