The Mehar of India

The Mehar of India, numbering approximately 85,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of the Hadoti region in Rajasthan claiming Rajput descent. Once serving as ceremonial staff-bearers, today farm labor and weaving have given way to farming. They are an Indigenous people in the Rajasthani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Mewari and their primary religion is Folk Hinduism.
