The Harkantra of India

The Harkantra of India, numbering approximately 24,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a fishing caste of the coastal districts of Uttar Kannad and Dakshin Kannad in Karnataka, also found in Goa and Maharashtra, whose name is said to mean sea hunters. They are traditionally fishermen and fish traders. They are an Indigenous people in the Kanarese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Kannada and their primary religion is Hinduism.
