The Gorait of India

The Gorait of India, numbering approximately 10,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are described as a Bihar community of traditional drum-beaters, related to the Kora, who once also made bamboo combs and carded cotton. Paid annually by villagers for ceremonial drumming, many now work in agriculture, wage labor, and rickshaw-pulling They are an Indigenous people, with Gorait as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the South Asian Tribal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Sadri.
