They are a community of Sub-Saharan African descent with roots in Guyana and can also be known as Afro-Guyanese. They are an Diaspora people, in the Afro-Caribbean people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Roman Catholicism. They primarily speak Guyanese English Creole.
