They are an Indigenous Austronesian people of Fiji who speak Fijian and share a cultural heritage rooted in the Lapita traditions of the Pacific. Their society is characterized by strong kinship networks, traditional chiefly systems, and enduring island custom. They are an Diaspora people in the Fiji people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Fijian and their primary religion is Protestantism.
