They are an ethno-linguistic subgroup of the Mixtec, an indigenous Mesoamerican people of Mexico and can also be known as Mixteco de Santiago Tlazoyaltepec. They are an Indigenous people, in the Mixtec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Folk Catholicism. They primarily speak Spanish.
