The Dalu of India

The Dalu of India, numbering approximately 16,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Meghalaya community bordering Bangladesh tracing its origin to an excommunicated Manipuri warrior, historically matrilineal though now patrilineal in inheritance, and increasingly adopting Vaishnavite Hindu practice. They are an Indigenous people in the Garo-Tripuri people cluster of the Himalayan Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Bengali and their primary religion is Hinduism.
