They are a Scheduled Caste of Odisha concentrated in Mayurbhanj district, traditionally engaged in pig-rearing, with animal husbandry and wage labor as secondary occupations. They are an Indigenous people in the Bengali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Odia and their primary religion is Hinduism.
