They are described as a community of Oriya-speaking hill cultivators primarily found in Odisha and parts of Andhra Pradesh They are an Indigenous people, with Rona as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Odia.
