The Padannan of India

The Padannan of India, numbering approximately 6,700 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste subgroup of the Kanakkan in Thrissur and Malappuram districts, Kerala, their name recalling salt-panning. The Padannan migrated from Tamil Nadu. Boating, fishing, and lime-burning remain their occupations. They are an Indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Tamil and their primary religion is Hinduism.
