The Raneyar of India, numbering approximately 4,700 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a Scheduled Caste of Dakshin Kannada district, Karnataka, named for their origin near Ranebennur, traditionally carriers of animal carcasses. Agricultural wage labor has largely replaced this role They are an Indigenous people, with Raneyar as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Kanarese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Kannada.
