They are an ethno-linguistic subgroup of the Mixtec, an indigenous Mesoamerican people of Mexico and can also be known as Ocotepec; Mixteco de Santo Tomás Ocotepec, Mixtec, Ocotepec Mixtec, Ocotepec, Mixteco de Santo Tomás Ocotepec. They are an Diaspora people, in the Mixtec people cluster of the Latin-Caribbean Americans affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Christianity - Roman Catholicism. They primarily speak Spanish.
