The Cherua of India, numbering approximately 1,100 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a Scheduled Caste Hindu community of Odisha whose name derives from chheli, meaning goat, traditionally engaged in goat rearing, agriculture, and dairying. They are an endogamous, Odia-speaking people concentrated in Puri and Ganjam They are an Indigenous people, with Cherua as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Odia.
