They are described as a nomadic community of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry who traditionally hunted fox and jackal. Their name derived from words for these animals. Bead-selling and wage labor have largely replaced hunting They are an Indigenous people, with Nakkala as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Gujarati people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Vaghri.
