Overview: The Zaghawa of Sudan have a population of 146,000. They are part of the Kanuri-Saharan people cluster. The global population of this people group is 245,500. Their primary language is Zaghawa - (zag). The primary religion practiced by the Zaghawa is Islam, a monotheistic religion built around the teachings of the Quran and of the prophet Muhammad. Their GSEC status is 2, which means this people group is less than 2% evangelical but there has been initial or concentrated church planting among them within the past two years.
