Overview: The Betsimisaraka of Madagascar have a population of 1,280,000. They are part of the Malagasy people cluster. This people group is found only in Madagascar. Their primary language is Northern Betsimisaraka Malagasy - (bmm). The primary religion practiced by the Betsimisaraka is ethnic religion. Ethnic religion is deeply rooted in a peoples ethnic identity and conversion essentially equates to cultural assimilation.
