Overview: The Mala are a Dalit community of India. They are mainly concentrated in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but are also distributed in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Dalit is a Sanskrit term meaning "broken or scattered" and refers to the lowest caste in India, often characterized as "untouchable".
