The Pashtun are the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan and a major ethnic group within Pakistan. Pashtun identity is characterized by the usage of one or more of the eastern Iranian Pashto languages as well as adherence to the practice of Pashtunwali, a unwritten ethical code that guides individual and community behavior.
